Consisting of used bicycles trapped in a tree branch (as if nature were taking its revenge on the industrial era), Marc Dulude’s work is made to last. The natural and the artificial collide: the tree is artificial, but it has all the appearance of a natural one. Another tree, resting on the ground, encloses a stone in a geometric fashion and thereby indicates its artificiality. Real trees planted around the work will further blur the lines over time. Nature will undo what the artist had planned to camouflage the industrial traces: autonomous ecosystem, the mixed forest defends itself against external interventions. This work brings into play the interdependence of both the natural and the artificial in a very tangible way, making the reflection even more significant.
