The project titled Démarche empirique pour un modèle du monde (Empirical Approach for a Model of the World) is a work resulting from researching and updating traditional techniques using plaster. This material is known for its ability to faithfully take the imprint of anything it comes into direct contact with. It is used here to create objects with multiple shapes that have been forged by time or modified within a set time frame. Time is thus at the forefront of the works in this corpus. It represents a measurement standard with variable geometry that allows the creation of unique shapes, which are the result of a certain volatility. In that respect, the work presented aligns itself with the notion that time is relative, that it depends on the observer’s point of view and on the space to which it is intimately linked. This work displays a state, a reaction, or a transformation of matter over time. It attempts to make available what is sometimes impossible for us to see or even understand at first glance. This state of matter frozen in time then makes it possible to manipulate and modify the essence of things, in a way that is as intuitive as it is playful, which transforms the hierarchy between the act of seeing and perceiving.
