Jardin d’artifice [Garden of Illusions]

Materials :
Fabric, light, motors, plastic bottle bottoms
Dimensions :
Variable
Medium :
Sculptural installation

Context :
Presented for the first time at the Rimouski Regional Museum alongside Jérôme Fortin, curator Véronique Bellemare-Brière (2003). A second iteration was presented as part of COMO COMO, ORANGE 2nd edition, a contemporary art event in Saint-Hyacinthe (2006).

Marc Dulude’s artistic process is driven by the desire to amaze, entertain, surprise, and amuse. The impact of the sculptural object, obtained by using bright colors and everyday elements, is at the center of his approach. Society’s comings and goings are a representation of derision to him. For the 2nd edition of the contemporary art event titled ORANGE, Marc Dulude will present Jardin d’artifices, an installation he created for a collaborative exhibition with Jérôme Fortin, La Démesure, Glaneurs contemporains, at the Rimouski Regional Museum in 2003. This garden is comprised of recycled pop bottles and flying mechanical bugs. Man’s grip on the natural environment, by way of exploiting the earth and his habits of excessive consumption, is a relevant point of view from which we can apprehend this work within the framework of ORANGE.
