Le Nid [The nest]

Materials :
Metal plating on bronze
Dimensions :
Variable
Medium :
Sculpture

Context :
Public artwork set up at the Équinoxe School in Laval.

This work is inspired by the swallow’s nest and alludes to the French proverb “petit à petit, l’oiseau fait son nid“, (little strokes fell great oaks) meaning that results come from hard work, thus referring to the academic career, the process of learning and the concept of perseverance. The title Source suggests a nurturing birthplace. As a place where knowledge is acquired and a living space, the school as a source of learning is meant to be inspiring and it allows for an individual and a community to flourish.
