Point de rencontre [Meeting Point]

Materials :
Painted aluminium
Dimensions :

Medium :
Sculpture

Context :
Public artwork installed at the Des cinq continents school in Montreal.

The artwork titled Point de rencontre (Meeting Point) is an abstract sculpture that points to the idea of multiculturalism and the encounter between nations. Five wings represent the colors of the continents: blue for Europe, black for Africa, red for America, green for Oceania and yellow for Asia. Each of them is linked to an aluminum cylinder which draws paths, going in various directions, following different turns, and merging even. A metaphor for human journeys and relationships, the graphical plot suggests an apparent complexity that comes to be simplified at its extremity into a nucleus, a common place, a meeting point.
