Context :
Work presented as part of the group show titled Ludisme (playfulness) at the SAS Gallery in Montreal, from June 9th to Saturday August 20th, 2011.

Levitating Rock distorting reality is a new version of the sculpture titled L’envolée (The flight) presented in 2010 in Montreal as part of the event called Paysages Éphémères. Playing with the codes of illusion, the work has an undulating mirror surface at the top of which a rock seems to float. Observing the reflection of this rock, the viewer has the impression that it is levitating in the reflected and deformed space of the gallery. This surreal image makes a playful nod to the painter Magritte and taps into the absurd and fanciful universe (fun house mirrors, cabinet of curiosities, etc.).
