This sculpture titled Memories is inspired by nature, nomadic life or roaming, and the historic heritage of the town of Carleton. At one time, the cemetery located next to the Saint-Joseph church was moved to make way for the new route 132. A homage to this story, this work refers to the way tourism alters landscapes and the traditional way of life. The moving sculpture is a small trailer topped with a plot of land. Its imposing size gives the impression that heavy machinery, such as a mechanical shovel, has accidentally unloaded a shovelful of earth on the trailer. Above this mound is an ecosystem torn from its territory representing a memory, a slice of life, thereby revealing a mobile landscape, made of trees and plants. Like a travel trailer, this islet has stopped over from place to place within the town of Carleton. It was parked in different locations, such as the pharmacy parking lot, the coffee roasting company parking lot, and the parking lot between the canteen and the ice cream parlour, to finally end its journey in the church parking lot, a beacon of inspiration for this work.
